Nomination Hearings Abound!

Let’s begin with nomination hearings. Our mission to Make America Healthy Again is charging full speed ahead. The two esteemed physicians testified this week: Dr. Bhattacharya on March 5th to fight for the NIH director position and Dr. Marty Makary on March 6th for the FDA commissioner role.

Dr. Jay Bhattacharya did a fantastic job during his hearing to be appointed Director of NIH. He highlighted the chaos of our current public health system, saying, “Over the last few years, top NIH officials oversaw a culture of coverup, obfuscation, and a lack of tolerance for ideas that differed from theirs.” Dr. Bhattacharya is all about bringing back real science—where dissent isn’t a dirty word but the heartbeat of progress. He has plans to refocus the NIH on chronic diseases and promised to “create an environment where scientists—including early career scientists—can express disagreement respectfully.” With RFK Jr. in his corner, Dr. Bhattacharya is ready to turn the NIH into a powerhouse for freedom and health, all while bringing the institution back to sound science.

Next, we heard from Dr. Marty Makary, who was nominated to be the new director of the FDA. Dr. Makary said he would stick to the “scientific process” and keep the agency’s “gold-standard science” alive—music to our ears after years of bureaucratic politicization and corporate capture. He pushed back when questioned about canceling the recent working group meetings to choose a new flu vaccine, instead gently highlighting the hypocrisy between the standard being requested for the Flu shot versus the COVID boosters. He also addressed the need to focus on food as medicine and an easier pathway to make certain drugs available over the counter. He encapsulated what he sees as an issue within the medical field, saying “There’s a lot of medical dogma that has contaminated our field, and I think it's tied to a lack of humility…Ultimately, what makes a great doctor…is not how much you know. It’s your humility and your willingness to learn as you go from patients.” He highlighted issues with the patent system that allows pharmaceutical companies to hold a tight leash on certain ingredients, making over-the-counter medicine harder.

These hearings weren’t just formalities; they were a battle cry for MAHA. Dr. Bhattacharya and Dr. Makary are ready to reform these agencies to serve us, the people. They’re not afraid to question the so-called experts or take on the tough fights—like chronic disease and overreach—that have been ignored for far too long. We’re on the cusp of something huge. Let’s keep the momentum going!

A New Era of Nutrition Advocacy: The MAHA Nutrition Committee

Why are we feeding our most vulnerable–and our children–the most toxic “food” available?

One of our most critical initiatives is the MAHA Nutrition Committee, which will work tirelessly to redefine dietary guidelines. We aim to present these new guidelines to school boards across all 50 states to push for new and improved school lunch programs.

We know that many are beginning to understand how toxic food ingredients are contributing to chronic health issues. However, reversing these trends will require finding alternatives to these harmful ingredients and working with legislators to implement necessary changes on a state and federal level. We will bring experts together to identify these alternatives and recreate what a healthy plate looks like (and doesn’t look like) using the MAHA non-negotiables—no seed oils, chemical additives, or GMOs, among other things.

In addition to school lunch programs, the MAHA Nutrition Committee will work with existing organizations to advocate for healthier alternatives in hospitals and nursing homes. Most of us have experienced overprocessed, flavorless, and frankly disgusting food in hospitals, and our unwell deserve healthy food when healing.

MAHA Action believes that shifting the American approach to and standards of nutrition will lead to the dramatic decline in rising rates of obesity, chronic disease, and diabetes our nation so desperately needs.

Measles Outbreak in Texas - HHS and CDC Place Focus on NUTRITION and VITAMINS

There is a measles outbreak in TX, and the CDC's focus under HHS is different than it has been in years. The message from HHS is that clinicians should consider nutrition and vitamin A to treat measles.

In an op-ed published on March 2, Secretary Robert F. Kennedy reiterated the same message he delivered during his campaign—vaccines are available if you want them. Still, therapeutics are also available, and besides proper diet and nutrition, Vitamin A has been shown to greatly reduce disease mortality when used under the guidance of a physician. You can read more about this holistic approach to treatment being adopted at HHS by heading to the newly updated CDC guidance page.

While we wait in excitement for real science to begin again in our nation's health institutions, let’s applaud the fact that there is finally a focus on natural and therapeutic interventions for illness - something that feels long lost for many of us.

CDC Flu Vaccine Campaign Halted, Various Meetings Postponed: Wild to Mild No More

There’s been a lot happening on the vaccine front, with the CDC pulling funding from its Wild to Mild campaign. The initiative was originally launched at the start of the 2023-2024 flu season to stem “vaccine hesitancy,” and the launch page for the campaign defined for the public what the CDC considered “vaccination.” Now, HHS has halted the campaign, and that isn’t all. Also canceled was the Flu Vaccine Advisory Panel meeting initially scheduled for March 13th, which would’ve made recommendations on the makeup of next year's flu shot. The ACIP meeting (CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices) was also canceled. For more information on the impacts of this meeting, read this article.
